WHO COLLABORATING CENTRES REGIONAL MEETING - United action for better health in Europe
2-3 November 2021 – Virtual
The WHO Collaborating Centre on Health and Migration Evidence and Capacity Building has participated in the first WHO Collaborating Centres (WHO CCs) Regional Meeting that was held online on 2 -3 November 2021.
In line with the WHO’s Thirteenth General Programme of Work 2019–2023 (GPW) and the European Programme of Work 2020–2025 – “United Action for Better Health in Europe” (EPW), WHO openly recognizes WHO CCs as key partners in collaborating to achieve WHO goals and targets .
In this regard, the meeting has been promoted by WHO/Europe to increase awareness of WHO’s mandated work and principles, and to identify strengths and gaps in consolidating the collaboration between WHO CCs and WHO and between WHO CCs themselves.
The two days hosted keynote speakers from WHO Europe and WHO CCs and nine breakout sessions of discussion between WHO CC members that were also invited to submit abstracts on their WHO CC activity.
Among key topics of the breakout sessions: strengthening of technical networks and communication between WHO and WHO CCs, fostering the role of WHO CCs in supporting countries, exploring the value of digitalization in improving health and well-being and investigating the contribute of WHO CCs in current and future emergency preparedness and response.
Representatives of almost 200 WHO CCs, WHO Headquarter and WHO Regional Offices joined the meeting.
