The Italian Minister of Health, Prof. Renato Balduzzi, and Monsignor Vincenzo Paglia at the lunch with the homeless at the NIHMP
On December 20, 2011, the Italian Minister of Health, Renato Balduzzi, the Bishop of Terni, Monsignor Vincenzo Paglia, the representative of the Regione Puglia councillor, Franco Bux, and the NIHMP Director General, Concetta Mirisola, received more than 50 homeless people as well as regular and irregular migrants to share a Christmas lunch.
The guests received a bag containing a first aid kit, winter underwear, a dental care kit, body creams, a sleeping bag donated by the Italian Revenue Guard Corps and winter clothes donated to the NIHMP by Rome’s citizens.
The meeting with Minister Renato Balduzzi and Monsignor Vincenzo Paglia was the occasion for presenting the assistance, research and training activities carried on by the NIHMP in Lazio, Puglia and Sicilia. In particular, it was an expression of the commitment of the Institute for fighting inequalities in the access to social and health care services and for trying to overcome social barriers, also by cooperating with other public institutes and private bodies.
